That simple meeting of flesh
Greeting, farewell
Where two may mesh
In fondness, sadness,
Both entwined
Body, Soul
And even mind.
And yet, in solitude
I have not known,
The love I’ve felt,
For you alone.
But when we kissed,
Euphoria reigned,
Passion! Ecstasy!
The love you feigned…
We broke apart,
My spirits died,
Crumpled, defeated,
Broken, resigned
I bade you leave
I set you free,
You could not love,
A beast like me
And yet, a hope,
Resplendent light,
Pierced the dark
Of ceaseless night
A ring, so simple,
Yet so divine,
Was no longer his
But yours and mine.
